Romanian airline Legend Airlines is breathing new life into a classic 15.2-year-old Airbus A340-300 model aircraft. Currently registered F-WTAJ (msn 921), the aircraft is owned by Airbus Financial Services and has been retired by Air Belgium. It is currently undergoing maintenance in Jordan and will be given the registration number YR-LRB when it is handed over to its base.
According to Romanian website BoardinPass.ro The company is backed by partners Ramin Youresh (55% stake) and Timor Shah Shahab (45%), both managing directors of Kam Air Afghanistan. Youresh is a Dutch citizen, which ensures the airline complies with EU ownership and control rules.
According to the Romanian website, Legend Airlines was certified in September 2021, but its Air Operator Certificate (COA) covered only a single Cessna C172 aircraft.
However, the newcomer is silent on her business plan and only revealed that she wants to operate “direct long-distance traffic from Romania” without giving any information about destinations or whether it is a question of scheduled or charter flights. The company’s plans would also include a second A340 shortly.
